Az XXX-hez kapcsolódó interjú folytatása.
Nagyobb betekintést nyerhetünk az eredeti tervekbe és hogy hogy született meg a két dal. Érdekes volt Tetsuya elképzelése a b-side-ról.
Jól értem, hogy ő azt szerette volna, ha a szólóik 1-1 dalát írják át Larukusra? Kár, hogy Hyde nem állt kötélnek, szívesen meghallgattam volna az ő előadásában a többiek dalait.

Tetsuya INTERVIEW

Q: hyde wrote and composed “X X X”, the 2nd single of your 20th anniversary year. What did you think when you first heard this track as a demo?

tetsuya: It’s easy to remember, melodious and catchy. It’s a very adult tune.

Q: What did you think of the fact that this was the single to follow on from “GOOD LUCK MY WAY”?

tetsuya: it wasn’t that popular among the staff, but I thought from the beginning that it would be perfectly fine as a single. I thought it would be appropriate to release this after “GOOD LUCK MY WAY”.



Q: I thought it was a track that very well combines the more vocal-emphasising perspective of R&B as well as the dynamism of the band-sound. Where did you place the importance when considering adding the bass?

tetsuya: R&B? Really? I focused more on the overall structure of the track and ensemble as opposed to just the bass.

Q: the way the bass flows into the chorus was also effective.

tetsuya: Do you think so? The tune itself was good to start with, and hyde had made a pretty complete demo already so all the members were like “Ah, OK, we get it”, and understood what he wanted. If we’d done something completely different to what we expected he would have told us.

Q: Still after 20 years, it’s amazing that you’ve released a very different single with a new appeal. What did you think, as the leader, of this new direction you are taking?

tetsuya: it’s not like I decide everything because I’m the leader – all 4 of us have the ability to compose songs so I think it’s natural that we come up with something new.

Q: So you create your tracks depending on what comes up at the time?

tetsuya: in the case of this track, the members all agreed that we wanted to make this the next single.

Q: this time the coupling wasn’t a P’UNK~EN~CIEL track, but instead an acoustic arranged self-cover of “I'm so happy-L'Acoustic version” – how did this come about?

tetsuya: ever since we released “metropolis -2011-“ as a coupling of “GOOD LUCK MY WAY”, we’d decided that that would be the final track by P’UNK~EN~CIEL. So as an alternative, we ended up with this direction. I had an idea for something else but it was turned down...

Q: what was your idea?

tetsuya: Because we all have our solo projects, I suggested we do the tracks from ken’s solo, my solo, acid android’s solo and VAMPS’ solo as L’Arc~en~ciel. In the case of VAMPS it’d be the same vocalist, but I thought it’d be different and interesting if we performed it as L’Arc~en~ciel...But hyde turned it down (l).


Q: Do you think you achieved everything you wanted with P’UNK~EN~CIEL?

tetsuya: Having arranged 3 tracks each, I thought that was probably enough. I knew the fans also were thinking “Aren’t we done with P’UNK~EN~CIEL?” so I thought we were done. Upon thinking of what to do next, hyde came up with the idea of acoustic arranging our previous songs, so we went with it. Initially I wanted to call it “L’Arc~en(un)~plugged” but “Unplugged” was registered as a trademark and we couldn’t use it, so hyde came up with “L’Acoustic version”.

Q: Does that mean that the “L’Acoustic version” will be done as a series too? What track would you like to arrange?

tetsuya: I don’t know yet. I’ll be the 4th in the list, so I haven’t even thought about it.

Q: By the time you release this single, you’ll be in the middle of your 20th L’Anniversary TOUR. We’d like to ask you about the tour, but before that, how did you feel about the 20th L’Anniversary LIVE held at the Ajinomoto Stadium on the 28th and 29th May?

tetsuya: Because it was our 20th anniversary live, I’m glad we did it and it was a live with great meaning. But personally, I would only give myself a mark of 30 out of 100, so hopefully in the coming tour I can improve this score.

Q: which part of it did you only score 30%?

tetsuya: on my own performance. So it’s no one else but my own fault.

Q: from the audience’s point of view, it was a great stage which also showed how tough the band was.

tetsuya: if you ask the other members, the staff and the fans, they all said that it was a very good live, but personally I couldn’t proudly say ‘It was great wasn’t it?’, so I hope this time I’ll be fully satisfied.

Q: what are you going to do to achieve this?

tetsuya: I have to practice more.

Q: Currently you are in the middle of rehearsing for the tour. How are you practicing?

tetsuya: I rehearse at the studio with the band, and then go home and practice some more. We have 2 different setlists for this tour, the A and B pattern. So if we rehearsed the A pattern in the studio one day and were to do the B pattern the next day, I would go home and practice the entire of the B pattern in preparation for the next day. Even on my days off I practice the entire of either of the set lists.

Q: So you practice the entire 2 hour set?

tetsuya: yes. Although just like in the real live, I’ll take a rest before the encore.

Q: and at this point of the rehearsal how is it going?

tetsuya: It should be ok, since it hasn’t been that long since the Ajinomoto stadium live. Also since this time it’s a tour, if we find something doesn’t work we can improve it as we go along.

Q: In the 2 days that you played at the Ajinomoto Stadium, there was a total of 45 songs, which showed a summary of the history of L’Arc~en~ciel. Do you think it’ll be the same for your tour?

tetsuya: I think so. We aren’t touring after the release of an album, so it’s like a celebratory tour for the 20 years.

Q: Next year you have the world tour. What are your ideas on this? (Note: WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!)

tetsuya: I have no idea – we haven’t discussed how we are going to do it or what sort of stage we want to create. It’s the same be it a world tour or an arena tour – what I want to do now is to concentrate on playing the bass well.

yukihiro INTERVIEW


Q: First, tell us what you thought when you first heard the demo of “X X X”.

yukihiro: I thought he’d come up with an amazing song.

Q: what do you think of the rhythm of “X X X”?

yukihiro: the demo that hyde brought was so close to completion, so I was wondering what sort of request he would come up with.

Q: So the recording went smoothly?

yukihiro: yes. I played 4 times and got an OK.... recently the number of takes are becoming less and less.

Q: you’re doing less takes intentionally?

yukihiro: it’s not like I’m trying to do less takes, but compared to before, it’s much less. I think it’s probably because the drum pattern that the members bring with the demo is pretty much complete. I don’t have to think a lot (l). Although I do think about it properly!

Q: The arrangement of the rhythm set is meticulous as usual, like where you add the kicks and snares.

yukihiro: hyde and I decided on it together. In hyde’s demo the kick pattern was all the same, and he said that he wanted to change it slightly, so we discussed it accordingly. He had some images of the arrangement, and had different requests, like ‘that’s not necessary’ or ‘add that more’.

Q: so you judged it together upon discussion.

yukihiro: yes, in quite a lot of detail, like “build up that part” or “include the fill there”. So in the end after 4 takes, it was done. He told me things like “the chorus part has a certain accent”, which were things I hadn’t realised until hyde told me. The chorus part is extremely rock. It’s a classically rock syncopation.

Q: overall it’s a 16 beat track, but the chorus is in 8 beats.

yukihiro: it doesn’t reach a complete 16 beat – it’s afterall a rock track. I felt that especially whilst recording.

Q: what about the tone?

yukihiro: it’s all based on hyde’s original image of the song. He insisted that we ‘keep it tight’, so that’s what we aimed for.

Q: This is a very new and different taste of L’Arc~en~ciel. Did you manage to immediately image the finished track?

yukihiro: yes. In the beginning, I didn’t know how much of the demo we were going to keep, but I thought ‘If we brush it up, it’d become better’. hyde was very particular about this track. As I said before, the image was pretty solid at the demo stage. But after changing various parts of the demo... like the addition of live drums and the synthesiser-strings becoming live, I think the image changed a little for hyde too. And to re-create that image, he was really persistent.

Q: Like the arrangement and the structure?

yukihiro: more like the tone. At the pre-production stage the structure had changed, and at that point there were sounds that were lacking or excessive in his image. It was only hyde that could understand what he wanted, so he mixed it a couple of times before completion.

Q: the track has a very unique structure. The opening “Step into fascination” melody is included as a refrain throughout, and the chorus “Feel itoshi- hodoni” part also has alot of impact. Either of these parts could be the chorus.

yukihiro: To me, it feels like any part of the songs written by hyde sounds like the chorus, especially the more recent songs. For this track, the “Feel~” part would usually be the chorus, but you can also say the opening melody is the chorus. Obviously you would expect there to be a certain part of the song that is decided as being the chorus, but personally, I don’t think it matters. I think it’s up to the person listening to it.

Q: About the coupling – “I'm so happy -L'Acoustic version-“. This is another new challenge. How did the recording go?

yukihiro: hyde produced this track, but we had no idea what was going on until the actual day of the recording. We were wondering if there was going to be a demo, but there wasn’t, although he did tell me in advance to bring my brushes. And on the actual day, it was like ‘can you do it like this?’(l). He had the electric piano and temporary vocals already, so it was like adding the drums to that.

Q: so it was like a session?

yukihiro: On listening to the electric piano and vocals, I was playing with a “2, 4” accent. But hyde insisted “If you play it like that it isn’t any different from the original track, so do it differently” (l). So I started to change it by delaying the timing, and upon discussing what we liked, we assembled the track together. Using this as the base, we started to make more changes.

Q: in this track the tone of the drums is low, and the number of drums and cymbals you used is less than usual – what about the drum set you used for the recording?

yukihiro: it was my usual set – bass drum, snare, ride cymbals. It was hyde’s request to use the ride cymbals. I also used the tom a little.

Q: it was different that you used brushes instead of your usual drum sticks.

yukihiro: It’s not like I’m playing as if I would using the brushes. I’m literally just holding brushes instead of sticks so the way I play is the same.

Q: The L’Acoustic version is set to be a series – do you have any songs you want to do in mind?

yukihiro: I haven’t thought about it yet, but I will when it becomes my turn (l).

Az XXX-et egyelőre nem tudom hova tenni, vannak benne jó részek, hát... a kövi albumon elfér majd. Az előző kislemez jobban tetszett.
A promó képek meg a lemezborító sztem szépek, nekem ez határozottan bejön. Nem az, hogy két pasi, hanem hogy Hyde és Ken, Hyde és akárki, szóval értitek.
Viszont életemben nem vettem meg egy lemezt csak azért, mert a képek nyálcsorgatósak, fura, hogy valaki így vásárol.

Hehe, Evee köszi. Haido-t lehet helybenhagyta az asszony a képek miatt? Jó nagy szemüveget vett fel. Szegény Ken nagyon unja magát ott a sarokban..Lehet, hogy az uborkáin töri még mindig a fejét... :lol:
A színpad meg...nem találok szavakat még mindig.

Ichiguchi, hidd el, van aki megveszi mindegyik fajta lemezborítót és egy maxiból van 4 fajta otthon. Emlékszel, pont itt beszéltünk róla, hogy a Hurry Xmas-t is hányszor adták ki és biztos lehetsz benne, hogy van aki a Kiss Kiss Kiss-ből is többet fog venni, mert az egyiken Hyde fogja az almát, a másikon Ken, a harmadikon Yuki, a negyediken meg Tetsuya. :lol:

Ó, én nem a vérfanokra gondolok, az rendben van (én is megvenném a SID összes létező mindenét), hanem azokra, akik életükben egy Laruku-dalt sem hallottak, de a képek miatt megveszik a lemezt.

:lol: Lehet kicsit sok neki egyszerre a 2 zenekar. Hm..SID...láttad már a Halloween napi fellépő listát? :lol: Kíváncsi vagyok, hogy ők beöltöznek-e valaminek. Mondjuk, van egy titkos kívánságom, de lehet, hogy fellépő lista bővítés helyett csak közös koncertnézés volt. :cry:

Hírek azok mindig vannak...pl most az a hír röppent fel, hogy a világ körüli koncertkörút 2012 március 17-én indul, egy tajvani koncerttel.

Edit: a helyszín is megvan már: Nangang Exhibition Hall és a jegyeket is elkezdták rá árulni. Hamarosan jön a többi dátum.

Hát ha hiszünk nekik, akkor kéne még lennie időpontnak, amit később jelentenek be, mert a helyszínek sorolásánál a sor végén oda van írva, hogy "...and more" (ezen az oldalon).

Részemről, ha megyek, akkor lehet hogy inkább Párizs, mert az hétvégén van. London viszont előnyösebb lenne a helyi kommunikációs szempontok miatt (yay, angol nyelv! xD). Hmmm...

edit: közben látom, hogy pont azon a héten van tavaszi szünet, úgyhogy már nem kérdés: LONDON!! :grin: Megnéztem egyébként, az indigO2 az O2 aréna egy kisebb része, ami kb. 2400 embert bír befogadni - szinte már-már családos hangulatú. :lol: (kb. a PeCsa nagyterme hasonló méretű, ha jól néztem)
